Latar belakang dan tujuan: PKBI cabang Biak didirikan pada tanggal 1 Oktober 1998 atas inisiatif pengurus daerah PKBI daerah Irian Jaya. Sebagaimana PKBI di tempat lain, PKBI cabang Biak bertujuan untuk mewujudkan keluarga bertanggung jawab dan mencapai keluarga berencana. |
Background and purpose: IPPA Biak Office was set up on October 1, 1998 based on the initiatives of the regional management of IPPA Irian Jaya. As the IPPA elsewhere, IPPA Biak Office is aimed at creating responsible family and to accomplish family planning.
Area and form of activities: Similar to its purpose, IPPA Biak Office has several activities and as its main ones are health, environment and population and family planning, including reproductive health. The forms of those activities are studies, researches and surveys, community development and assistance as well as advocacy along with education and training, seminar, discussion and workshop.
Program: IPPA Biak Office has already implemented several programs such as HIV/AIDS and Sexually Transmitted Diseases (STDs) Prevention program and doing research on the women’s attitude toward UPGK program.
Funding sources: This association has financial assistance from 2 sources, that is, membership fee and donations from members and also in the form of grants from international agencies. The international agencies which have given their financial aid are, among others, PATH and CHN3.
Membership and working area: IPPA Biak Office regionally is a member of IPPA Irian Jaya and nationally is a member of IPPA Main Office and internationally is a member of the IPPF (the International Planned Parenthood Federation). This association covers Jayapura and Biak.
Staf: IPPA Biak Office is managed by a number of staffs; 17 staffs work full-time and 1 part-time. This office is supported by 3 professionals and 1 administrative staff in their daily activity.
