Latar belakang dan tujuan: Lembaga Kajian Masyarakat (LEKMAS) Sulsel adalah lembaga independen yang didirikan oleh orang-orang non partisan. Visi LEKMAS adalah terciptanya kemandirian masyarakat, khususnya masyarakat marjinal yang didasarkan pada prinsip keterbukaan, dan keadilan sosial sebagai penghargaan terhadap martabat manusia. Sedangkan tujuan lembaga ini adalah untuk mendukung kehidupan masyarakat dalam bidang sosial, ekonomi, budaya dan politik demi terwujudnya tatanan masyarakat yang demokratis, dinamis dan berdasarkan keseimbangan. Program: Program-program yang pernah dilakukan di antaranya pembinaan kelompok tani, penyulingan minyak kayu putih, pembinaan petani tambak, pelatihan pengembangan masyarakat, usaha kecil, wanita serta pesantren. Publikasi: Buletin Mitra Mas, Buletin Agangku, News letter JPPI. Sumber dana: Selain dari iuran dan sumbangan anggota, bantuan pemerintah (BKKBN, BTN dan BI), juga hibah lembaga internasional (ILO, ICF, Plan Internasional, Kedutaan New Zealand dan CIDA), bantuan lembaga non-pemerintah dalam negeri, serta hasil kerjasama proyek. Keanggotaan dan wilayah kerja: Di tingkat regional, menjadi anggota Forum Informasi Komunikasi Sulawesi Selatan, Jaringan Advokasi Sulawesi, dan Anggota konsorsium perlindungan hak-hak buruh Kotamadya Makassar. Di tingkat nasional masuk dalam Jaringan Penanggulangan Pekerja Anak Indonesia. Wilayah kerja lembaga ini adalah Propinsi Sulawesi Selatan. Staf: Lembaga ini mempunyai 8 staf tetap, 2 staf tidak tetap, 6 staf profesional dan 2 staf administrasi. | Background and purpose: LEKMAS is an independent organization which was set up by non-partisans. Its vision is the creation of community’s self-reliance, notably for the marginal community, which is based on the respect for human dignity. Meanwhile, the purpose of the organization is to support the dynamics in the social, economic and cultural life with the aim to create a democratic society based on balance. Program: The institute has implemented a number of programs such as development of farmer groups, ‘kayu putih’ oil refinery, fishery, and trainings on community development, small enterprise, women and pesantrens (Islamic boarding schools). Publication: LEKMAS publishes Mitra Mas and Agangku bulletins; and JPPI News Letter. Funding sources: In addition to membership dues and donations, they also receives government assistance, grants from international agencies, assistance from domestic non-government organizations, and the remuneration of the projects. Government agencies include BKKBN, BTN and Bank Indonesia. While ILO, ICF, Plan International, New Zealand Embassy and CIDA are among the international organizations. Membership and working area : At the regional level, LEKMAS is a member of several fora like Information and Communication Forum of South Sulawesi NGOs, South Sulawesi Advocacy Network, the Consortium for the Protection of Laborers in Makassar. At the national level, the institute is associated with the Prevention against child-workers network. LEKMAS operates in South Sulawesi. Staff: LEKMAS presently has 8 full-time and 2 part-time staff members, including 6 professional and 2 administration workers. |
