Latar belakang dan tujuan: DidirikannyaYayasan Sosial Fransiskus (YSF) pada tanggal 7 Juli 1979 karena didorong oleh kondisi masyarakat Papua yang masih terkebelakang dan tertinggal jauh dalam segala hal. Selain itu, keterampilan dan pengetahuan moderen masyarakat relatif rendah, sehingga cenderung menjadi marginal, hanya jadi penonton pembangunan , kurang motivasi, kurang percaya diri, kurang inisiatif dan frustasi. Tujuan yayasan ini adalah untuk membantu masyarakat, khususnya umat katolik keuskupan Jayapura dalam hal pemberian dorongan, bimbingan dan sumbangan kepada perkembangan usaha-usaha sosial ekonomi. Bidang dan bentuk kegiatan: Bidang kegiatan utama lembaga ini adalah pertanian dan peternakan, kesehatan, air bersih dan sanitasi, wanita, usaha kecil dan perkoperasian, hutan kemasyarakatan, anak, hingga ke bidang-bidang lingkungan hidup, hukum, gender, hak asasi manusia dan demokrasi sebagai kegiatan penunjang. Sementara bentuk-bentuk kegiatannya antara lain pendidikan dan pelatihan, pengembangan dan pendampingan masyarakat, serta perkreditan. Program: Program kegiatan yang pernah dilakukan antara lain proyek pemukiman masyarakat suku terasing, proyek gizi terpadu, program pengembangan credit union, program bantuan anak cacat, kursus montir, bantuan bencana kekeringan, kursus ekonomi rumah tangga, animasi ajaran sosial gereja, kursus teknik investigasi hak asasi manusia, dan lain-lain. Sumber dana: Selain bantuan (subsidi) pemerintah, dan hibah (grant) dari lembaga internasional, juga bantuan dari badan atau lembaga dalam negeri non pemerintah, serta pendapatan dari jasa kerjasama dengan pihak lain. Pihak-pihak yang pernah bekerjasama yakni PMD propinsi Irian Jaya, Kedutaan Selandia Baru, USC Kanada, Yayasan Liliane Belanda, Terre des Hommes, GTZ, dan LPPS-KWI. Keanggotaan dan wilayah kerja: Lembaga ini tergabung sebagai anggota Forum Kerjasama LSM Irian Jaya. Wilayah kerjanya meliputi seluruh propinsi Papua, terutama kabupaten Jayapura, Jayawijaya, Paniai, Nabire, Puncak Jaya, Mimika, Biak-Numfor, Yapen-Waropen. Staf: Lembaga ini memiliki staf 5 orang, 2 di antaranya sebagai staf tetap dan 3 staf tidak tetap. Dari keseluruhan staf, 1 orang berfungsi sebagai staf administrasi. | | Background and purpose: This foundation was established on July 7, 1979 motivated by the poor and underdeveloped condition of the Papuan community in all aspects. Their modern skill and knowledge is relatively low so they tend to be neglected; having no role in development process, lacking of self-assurance, initiative and they are frustrated. Based on the reality this foundation is aimed at helping the community, especially the Catholics in Jayapura Diocese to give their support, guidance and donation to the development of social and economic efforts. Area and form of activities: This foundation works in various fields and forms of activities. The activities they have done are agriculture and breeding cattle, health, clean water and sanitation, women, small business and cooperative, community forest, childcare, environment, law, gender, human rights and democracy. The forms of those activities are, among others, education and training, community development and assistance and credit services. Program: Since it was formed, this foundation has done many programs. They are, among others, resettlement of remote tribe community, integrated nutrition project, credit union development program, handicap children aid program, technician course, assistance for the drought disaster, household economy course, church’s social teachings, course on the investigation of human rights and so on. Funding sources: In doing their activities, this foundation has 4 sources of fund, that is, the government subsidies, grants from international institutions, financial help from domestic non-governmental agencies or institutions and income from the cooperation with other parties. The institutions which have cooperated are the government of the Irian Jaya province, New Zealand Embassy, USC Canada, Liliane Foundation of the Netherlands, Terre des Hommes, GTZ, and LPPS-KWI. Membership and working area: This foundation is a member of NGO Coordination Forum of Irian Jaya. This foundation works in the province of Irian Jaya mainly in Jayapura, Jayawijaya, Paniai, Nabire, Puncak Jaya, Mimika, Biak-Numfor, Yapen-Waropen districts. Staf: This foundation employs 5 people, 2 of them work full-time and 3 part-time. From all of the staffs, there is one who is in charge of the administration. |
