Latar belakang dan tujuan: Melihat kenyataan bahwa kondisi masyarakat Indonesia berada di bawah garis kemiskinan dan rentan terhadap berbagai aspek terutama aspek penyakit (kesehatan), maka sekelompok eksekutif muda yang peduli terhadap masyarakat miskin ini mendirikan lembaga pada 20 Februari 1974. Program: Program yang pernah dilakukan lembaga ini antara lain pengembangan program PSM di beberapa daerah, workshop internasional tentang gender, pengembangan beberapa lembaga swadaya masyarakat di Indonesia Timur, pelatihan untuk para dokter Puskesmas, program pembangunan propinsi di Jawa Tengah, pengembangan media komunikasi dalam penanganan diare, pengkajian water supply, evaluasi program kesehatan masyarakat, dan lain-lain. Publikasi: Menerbitkan banyak buku, film slide, alat peraga, Buletin BERGETAR, KONTAK MITRA, News Letter Vibro News Release. Sumber dana: Lembaga ini memperoleh dana dari berbagai lembaga internasional seperti EZE, CIDA, USAID, MOH, UNICEF, AIDAB, dan WORLD BANK. Keanggotaan dan wilayah kerja: Lembaga ini merupakan anggota FK-PKMI, YASPPUK, ALTRABAKU, JK-LPM, FK-PPAI, ACHAN, APPROTECH ASIA, dan INDHHRA. Wilayah kerjanya berskala nasional. Staf: Lembaga ini memiliki 36 staf tetap dan 6 staf tidak tetap, dengan 19 staf profesional dan 23 staf admnistrasi. | Background and purpose: Knowing that many Indonesians still lived below the poverty line, and were vulnerable to various threats, notably diseases, a number of young executives, who were concerned over the condition of the poor people, set up YIS on 20 February 1974. Program: Over the past 5 years, YIS has implemented a number of programs in certain provinces like an international workshop on gender, the development of a number of community self-reliant groups in eastern Indonesia, training for doctors of community health centers, development programs in Central Java, the development of communication media for curbing diarrhea, water supply studies, evaluation of public healthcare programs, and so on. Publication: YIS published quite many books, film slides, teaching aid materials, and publishes BERGETAR and KONTAK MITRA bulletins, Vibro news letter, and news releases. Funding sources: The funds used by YIS for financing its activities come from international funding agencies like EZE, CIDA, USAID, MOH, UNICEF, AIDAB, and WORLD BANK. Membership and working area: YIS is a member of FK-PKMI, YASPPUK, ALTRABAKU, JK-LPM, FK-PPAI, APPROTECH ASIA, and INDHHRA. It operates at the national level. Staff: 36 full-time and 6 part-time staff members run the organization. They are comprised of 19 professional and 23 administration workers. |
