Latar belakang dan tujuan: Pembentukan lembaga ini diinisiasi oleh kondisi hak-hak sipil dan politik rakyat, terutama kalangan perempuan dan anak-anak, belum dihormati dan cenderung dilanggar. Karena itu para pendirinya menetapkan tujuan lembaga yakni untuk memperjuangkan kepentingan masyarakat desa dan menumbuhkan kesadaran mereka terhadap hak asasi manusia, yang diselenggarakan melalui pendidikan alternatif berupa sanggar belajar pedesan. Lembaga ini berdiri pada 14 Maret 1990.
Bidang dan bentuk kegiatan: Bidang kegiatan utama lembaga ini adalah gender, wanita dalam pembangunan, buruh, anak, demokrasi dan hak asasi manusia. Selain itu juga usaha kecil dan perkoperasian, serta hukum sebagai penunjangnya. Sedangkan bentuk kegiatannya adalah pendidikan dan pelatihan, pengembangan dan pendampingan masyarakat dan advokasi, serta penerbitan.
Program: Program-program yang pernah dilakukan di antaranya program pelatihan gender, training untuk kader LSM, training dan advokasi feminisme.
Publikasi: Menerbitkan Buletin SUARA HAPSARI dan News Letter Info Kasus Arfah.
Sumber dana: Selain bantuan dari lembaga-lembaga internasional, juga mendapatkan bantuan dari lembaga-lembaga dalam negeri non pemerintah seperti YAPPIKA, P2PSDM, Solidaritas Perempuan, LP3ES dan sebagainya.
Keanggotaan dan wilayah kerja: Dalam lingkup regional lembaga ini masuk dalam jaringan WIM dan Perempuan Sumatera Utara, juga menjadi anggota jaringan nasional Solidaritas Perempuan, PERAN, YASSPUK, Serikat Pendamping Rakyat. Tidak tersedia informasi keanggotaan lembaga ini.
Staf: Yayasan ini memiliki 3 orang staf tetap, 3 orang staf tidak tetap, ditambah seorang tenaga profesional dan seorang tenaga administrasi.
| Background and purpose: The establishment of this foundation was initiated by the condition of the civil rights and the people dems politics, in particular in the circles of women and children, which are not yet appreciated and tend to be violated. For that reason, the founders determined the aim of the foundation to be: to fight for the interests of the rural community and to develop their awareness of human rights, to be undertaken through alternative education in the form of rural teaching workshops. The institute was established on March 14th, 1990. Area and form of activities: Yayasan Hapsari has chosen gender, women in development, labor, children, democracy and human rights as its main fields of activity. In addition the foundation also develops small scale businesses and cooperatives, and law, as support fields. Meanwhile forms of the activities comprise education and training, community development and assistance and advocacy, as well as publishing. Program: Programs previously undertaken by Yayasan Hapsari are, among others, programs of gender training, NGO cadre training, and training and advocacy in feminism. Publication: Publishes the Bulletin SUARA HAPSARI and the News Letter Info Kasus Arfah. Funding sources: Other than obtaining grants from international institutions, in carrying out its activities, Yayasan Hapsari also receives aid from domestic non government institutions such as YAPPIKA, P2PSDM, Solidaritas Perempuan, LP3ES and others.
