Latar belakang dan tujuan: Sumber daya alam yang belum dimanfaatkan penduduk setempat, kualitas sumber daya manusia minim, akses terhadap informasi sangat terbatas, serta dominasi pemerintah sangat kentara, merupakan faktor-faktor pendorong berdirinya Lembaga Bina Potensia (LBP) pada 11 April 1987. Lembaga ini mempunyai tujuan ingin meningkatkan peran Kalimantan Selatan dalam pembangunan nasional melalui pendekatan partisipasi masyarakat.
Bidang dan bentuk kegiatan: Bidang kegiatan utama lembaga ini adalah pertanian, usaha kecil/perkoperasian, sektor informal, dan hutan kemasyarakatan, yang ditunjang oleh bidang kegiatan lingkungan hidup, demokrasi, gender, dan peternakan. Bidang-bidang ini dilaksanakan melalui berbagai bentuk kegiatan: pengembangan/pendampingan masyarakat, advokasi, studi, penelitian, survai, dan perkreditan. Sumber dana: Selain iuran dan sumbangan anggota, dan pendapatan dari jasa kerja sama dengan pihak lain, lembaga ini juga memperoleh dana dari lembaga internasional, di antaranya NOVIB. Keanggotaan dan wilayah kerjanya: Lembaga ini merupakan salah satu jaringan WALHI. Wilayah kerjanya meliputi propinsi Kalimantan Selatan. Staf: Lembaga ini memiliki 12 staf tetap, 12 staf tidak tetap, 4 staf profesional, dan 3 staf administrasi. |
Background and purpose: The natural resources that have not yet touched by the local people, the lack of qualified human resources, the very limited access to information and the domination of the central government are the reasons of the founding of this institute on April 11, 1987. This institute is intended to improve the role of South Kalimantan in national development through the participation of the people.
Area and form of activities: This institute has many main activities such as agriculture, small businesses and cooperatives, informal sectors, social forestry which are supported by other activities like environment, democracy, gender as well as breeding cattle. Those activities are conducted in the form of community development and assistance, advocacy, studies, researches, surveys and credit.
Program: One of its programs is agroforestry program.
Funding sources: Beside membership fee, donation and the income from cooperation with other parties, this institute also receives financial help from the international agencies such as NOVIB.
Membership and working area: This institute is a member of WALHI network. It covers the areas of South Kalimantan province.
Staff: They have 12 full-time staffs, 12 part-time ones, 4 professionals and 3 administrative staffs
