Latar belakang dan tujuan: Yayasan Kompas Borneo disingkat YKB didirikan pada 17 Agustus 1987 karena adanya keinginan untuk memberdayakan masyarakat menuju demokratisasi, termasuk pembelaan hak-hak rakyat, juga konservasi lingkungan hidup, dengan tujuan agar ekonomi masyarakat menjadi berdaya, ada kepastian hukum, hak asasi manusia, dan demokrasi, termasuk meningkatnya sumber daya manusia. Program: Program-program yang telah dilaksanakan antara lain pemberdayaan masyarakat dengan membuka lahan pertanian di desa Antar Baru, penelitian kebudayaan masyarakat Dayak Meratus di desa Alang Kiling, konservasi Barito Basin Negara River, penanggulangan rawan pangan akibat bencana di desa Puliin, dan pelestarian kijang kuning. Publikasi: Pernah menerbitkan Buletin Ulin (Untuk Lingkungan). Sumber dana: Sumber dana lembaga ini berasal dari iuran anggota, bantuan dari pemerintah, hibah dari lembaga internasional antara lain Ford Foundation dan AWB, bantuan dari lembaga dalam negeri non pemerintah dan pendapatan dari jasa kerjasama proyek dengan pihak lain. Keanggotaan dan wilayah kerja: Lembaga ini merupakan anggota jaringan WALHI Kalimantan Selatan, Jaringan Tambang, KPSHK, WALHI Jakarta, SKEPHI, Toyota Foundation, AWB Indonesia. Sedangkan wilayah kerjanya adalah Banjarmasin dan sekitarnya. Staf: Lembaga ini mempunyai 9 staf tetap, 9 staf tidak tetap, 7 staf profesional, dan 11 staf administrasi. |
Background and purpose: This foundation was founded on August 17, 1987 based on the intention to empower the community toward democratization, including to defend the community rights as well as environment conservation. The purpose of this foundation is to empower the community’s economy, legal assurance, human rights and democracy as well as human resources improvement.
Area and form of activities: Agriculture and environment are the main activities of this foundation. As its supporting activities are gender issues, informal sector and social forestry. Those activities are done in the form of studies, surveys, community assistance, publications, advocacy, education and training as well as seminars.
Program: This foundation so far has conducted several programs. The programs are among others, community empowerment to open land to cultivate in Antar Baru village, research on the culture of Dayak Meratus Community in Alang Kiling village, conservation of Barito Basin-negara River, handling unstable food supply in Pullin village and yellow deer conservation.
Publication: They have published Ulin Bulletin.
Funding sources: The funds of this foundation come from membership fee, donation from the government, grants from international agencies, aid from domestic non-governmental organizations and income from project cooperation with other parties. The international agencies which have given grants are among others the Ford Foundation and AWB.
Membership and working area: This foundation is a member of Walhi South Kalimantan network, Mining Network, KPSHK, WALHI Jakarta, SKEPHI, Toyota Foundation, AWB Indonesia. Its working is Banjarmasin and its environs.
Staff: This foundation has 9 full-time and 9 part-time staffs along with 7 professionals and 11 administrative staffs.
